Job Profile
The company is looking for a Welding/Fabrication Supervisor who will hire, mentor, and train employees while also supporting the operations of a metal service center within the McNichols operations organization.
Responsible for working with the management team to coordinate the productivity, efficiency, and safety of the branch.
This is a working supervisor role, both managing the warehouse and using machinery.
Education Level
- Not mentioned, a High School Diploma (a plus)
Work Experience
- 3-5 years of supervisory experience with a proven record of leading, delegating, and decision making
- Experience inventory management software
- Experience working in an ISO or quality-regulated environment (preferred)
- Welding experience (required)
Duties/Responsibilities
- Communicate internally with departments such as IT, HR, Accounting, and Supply Services.
- Complete cycle counts and manage inventory adjustments.
- Coordinate and monitor the value-added fabrication for customer orders.
- Fabricate orders to customer specifications, including welding, cutting, and preparing orders for shipment
- Manage and sustain excellent communication and viable relationships with McNichols vendors and suppliers.
- Manage the maintenance of equipment and machinery.
- Monitor metrics for quality and performance, making improvements as needed.
- Provide excellent customer service to both internal and external customers.
- Train and mentor branch staff
- Work closely with third-party logistics carriers to provide on-time delivery of McNichols’ product.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Ability to prioritize, organize, and multitask.
- Basic knowledge of MS Word and Excel
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- High levels of professionalism with strong attention to detail.
- Knowledge of general business and management principles, including standard financial metrics and employment practices.
- Working knowledge of shop math and design drawings – experience with all types of tools.
Work Environment
- Exposed to noise, heat, fumes, and heavy machinery
- May work irregular hours, including nights or weekends, to meet deadlines
- Often stands for long hours and performs hands-on inspections
- Wears protective gear such as helmets, gloves, and eye protection
- Works in industrial settings like workshops, factories, or construction sites
