Duties/Responsibilities
- Be an active contributor to TBEI’s behavior-based safety (BBS) program and complete weekly departmental audits in a timely manner
- Driving initiatives across operational departments, including procedures, continuous improvement initiatives, and equipment needs.
- Lead, train, and mentor the production team to meet daily KPI targets following the SQDCP model (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and People).
- Leading and helping team members to meet the production schedule, to ensure customer needs are met
- Manage time and attendance for direct employees
- Measure and drive improvements in KPIs
- Provide employee performance appraisals in a timely manner and hold employees accountable for performance and values
- Providing timely communication to employees, the Manager, and other areas as required (i.e., documentation, reports).
- Securing the building following shifts and opening the building before production each day
- Solving problems with processes, employees, products, and customers
- Other duties as assigned
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- A continuous improvement mindset
- Ability to apply working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, and effectively use them through computer systems and software.
- An understanding of lean principles and the ability to lead employees in the use of the lean tools.
- Excellent communication skills must be used to regularly communicate or discuss issues affecting production, equipment, personnel, safety, and their resolutions as appropriate; communication ranges from individual development conversations up to public speaking for larger audiences.
- Knowledge of Continuous Improvement, Lean, Six-Sigma, and Kaizen planning is strongly preferred.
- Lead with Safety as a priority, following safety and environmental guidelines and work procedures.
- Must be able to prioritize and work on multiple projects and meet delivery dates.
- Must have a strong understanding of welding concepts, including MIG and TIG, as well as manufacturing processes.
- Must have flexibility, creativity, teambuilding, leadership, decision making, and interpersonal skills to identify, analyze, and solve problems, along with training and mentoring employees.
- Proven track record of leadership success
- Understand a Bill of Materials structure and product flow. Product knowledge is preferred.
Work Environment
- Ability to manually move product and materials up to 50 lbs. through occasional heavy physical exertion, including but not limited to lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and bending. Using the overhead hoists requires the ability to push and pull up to 100 lbs.
- Ability to work on concrete in a variety of positions, including but not limited to kneeling, crouching, bending, twisting, turning, and occasionally climbing.
- Ability to walk and stand on concrete for 90% of the shift.
- Occasional travel may be required. A valid driver’s license with a good driving record is required.
