Job Profile
The company is recruiting a Manufacturing Engineer (Product Launch) who will function as follows-
- To champion continuous improvement initiatives such as cycle-time, scrap, downtime, and manpower reduction through welding/assembly, CNC, hydroforming, and stamping during the manufacturing of steel and aluminum engine cradles.
- Champion the design, build, and development of assembly processes and tooling required.
- Manage launch activities, engineering changes, and VAVE activities.
- Support quality fast response meetings and troubleshoot production issues on the line.
- Be able to update and create PFMEAs, process flows, and work instructions, and understand the product GD&T.
Educational Qualification
- Applicants should have an Engineering Degree/Diploma in Mechanical Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering
Work Experience
- Possess a minimum 5 years of related experience within an automotive assembly or similar manufacturing industry
- Able to read and interpret CAD drawings, experience with AutoCAD
- Experience in Project Management
Duties/Responsibilities
- Accepts personal responsibility to plan and conduct their work safely in compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act as well as company policies and guidelines.

- Assists in developing material handling logistics (i.e., Aisle layout, bin placement, dunnage assists, etc.)
- Assists in resolving quality concerns
- Assists in setting up a preventative maintenance program for new equipment
- Assists in setting up a preventive maintenance program for e-coat and shipping racks
- Conducts appropriate Manpower efficiency studies – through time and motion studies or standard data. Line balancing manpower, machine charts, and analysis
- Co-ordinates all required actions to resolve quality and safety concerns related to packaging
- Follows and complies with all Operational Procedures and Policies as Outlined in the Team Member Handbook, Quality and Environmental Programs (i.e., TS16949, ISO14001)
- Handles medium size projects from inception to completion (timing, concept, feasibility, design, construction, try-out, launch, final buy-off (PPAP and run at rate), prototype programs, and engineering changes) with moderate follow-up by leadership.
- Interfaces with production departments, customers, and vendors to design packaging solutions to improve production planning, efficiency, ergonomic design, and economic viability of our operation
- Knows and understands process documentation and customer-specific requirements as they relate to this job function
- Performs other duties as required
- Prepares reports, charts, and other documentation required for engineering records and projects
- Report to his/her leader or designate any contravention of the act, any known hazards or defects in equipment
- Responsible for Good House Keeping in your area
- Reviews, coordinates, and implements all customer-approved engineering changes, including part-level communication updates, physical part updates, process sheet updates, physical tooling changes, etc.
- Reviews, coordinates, and implements packaging changes as a result of customer-approved engineering changes
- Reviews, monitors, and co-ordinates custom packaging design, build, approval process, and capital budgets
- Reviews, monitors, and co-ordinates tooling design, build, approval process, and capital budgets
- Supervises equipment relocation and installation to Deco Automotive
- Supports activities for the successful attainment of PPAP and GP-9
- Supports continuous improvement initiatives
- Supports new business quoting process with packaging recommendations including pack densities and design concepts for custom racks

- Updates and documents current plant layouts
- Works with all departments and customers to design solutions that improve production efficiency, ergonomics, safety, and maintenance-related issues
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Ability to uphold confidentiality

- Appropriate presentation skills for customer interface
- Demonstrates the ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Good organizational, verbal, and written communication skills
- Knowledge of MIG welding aluminum and galvanized steel
- Knowledge of stamping, hydroforming, E-coat, and CNC machining an asset
