Job Profile

The company is looking to hire a Truck Service Mechanic who will service, refurbish, and repair trucks, tanks, and equipment, following safety standards that comply with all company, local, City, State, and Federal guidelines.

Educational Qualification

  • Applicants should have a High School Diploma or GED equivalent

Work Experience

  • Possess experience with and ability to use a wide range of automotive repair tools
  • Ability and willingness to become propane (CETP) certified as determined by the state(s) served.
  • Ability to pass in-person training and MFA Oil Company Record of Road test requiring the operation of both manual and automatic transmission vehicles within 120 days of employment

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Clean and maintain equipment assigned to the position.
  • Deliver parts and vehicles to other MFA Oil Company locations as needed
  • Follow posted work schedule and adhere to proper clocking procedures to accurately reflect hours worked.
  • Operate in a safe manner at all times according to company safety procedures.
  • Perform DOT and VK inspections on company vehicles.
  • Perform PTO repairs on company vehicles.
  • Perform, or train to perform, annual and 5-year inspections on company equipment and sign off on any necessary related paperwork and forms.
  • Prepare company vehicles for the installation of tanks.
  • Promptly communicate any issues related to safety or efficiencies to the supervisor for both trucks and equipment.
  • Refurbish company truck tanks and service beds for installation on chassis.
  • Repair, rebuild, or replace pumps, meters, and registers on LP or refined trucks.
  • Service and maintain company equipment, including but not limited to repairing tools and machinery and performing regular, scheduled maintenance of company vehicles.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair trucks and equipment issues as assigned.
  • Welding and fabrication work on vehicles, tanks, and service beds.
  • All MFA Oil employees are expected to know and adhere to company and position-specific policies and procedures. While this job description contains the primary duties of the position, employees may be expected to perform other duties as assigned.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Ability and willingness to work scheduled overtime.
  • Ability to meet Company requirements, including successful background and MVR check and drug test.
  • Ability to safely operate automatic and manual transmission vehicles in a variety of weather and road conditions
  • Ability to speak, read, writes, and understands the English language to communicate with customers, coworkers, and supervisors.
  • Ability to travel periodically to other MFA Oil locations.
  • Ability to troubleshoot vehicle and equipment repair issues.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • A valid driver’s license is required.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States.

Preferred Skills-

  • Ability and willingness to obtain a Class A or Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with the tanker, HAZMAT, and air brake endorsements within the first 120 days of employment, and maintain all Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements per the vehicle requirements
  • Ability to grasp new concepts quickly.

  • Ability to set priorities and goals and develop plans for achieving them.
  • Ability to work at a fast pace.
  • Ability to work under timelines and pressure.
  • Ability to work well with others.

  • Able to perform detailed work with accuracy.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Three or more years of documentable and verifiable experience in performing regulatory testing.
  • Training or experience in truck maintenance.

Work Conditions

  • Ability to spend 6-9 hours a shift standing or walking
  • Physical strength and dexterity to walk, stand, bend, climb, reach, stoop, twist, and lift/carry 100 pounds.
  • Ability to work in an environment with possible contact with hazardous materials.
  • Vision, hearing, speech, and ability to detect odors.
  • Ability to drive and work in adverse weather conditions.
