Job Profile

The company is recruiting a Field Mechanic who will be responsible for performing mechanical repairs on diesel-powered equipment including troubleshooting and repairs of heavy equipment, rebuilds, removal and installation of mechanical parts, and preventative maintenance on all types of diesel-powered and plant equipment.

Also, responsible for preventative maintenance and repair of mobile equipment, including lubricating equipment and changing oil and filters as needed.

Educational Qualification

• Applicants should have a High School Diploma, GED, or Equivalent

Work Experience

• Possess experience in mobile equipment and plant maintenance (preferred)

Duties/Responsibilities

• Aides in the training of co-workers as needed
• Conducts MSHA pre-shift safety inspections of equipment and work area
• Maintains parts inventory and orders supplies as needed
• Maximizes performance of equipment by performing repairs and ensuring preventative maintenance is completed on a timely basis
• Observes and listen to trucks and other mobile equipment in operation to determine malfunctions
• Operates other equipment such as loaders and haul trucks in a safe manner as needed
• Performs simple and intermediate-type diagnoses/repairs without constant supervision
• Reads manuals, use hand tools, and power tools to perform repairs and maintenance to electrical systems, power transmissions, brakes, drivelines, and other automotive systems to perform repair work
• Replaces rollers and other worn items as required
• Utilizes electrical and pressure testing equipment within the company guidelines and safety standards
• Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor

• Will take an active role in the plant safety initiatives
• Willing to cross-train in different areas of production
• Willing to work overtime and weekends as needed

• Able to adhere to MSHA guidelines and plant safety rules and regulations
• Able to ensure a safe work environment by prioritizing safety, then quality, followed by production
• Able to handle multiple projects simultaneously and to perform duties with minimal supervision
• Able to use a wide variety of hand tools and power tools
• Able to work cooperatively with others toward a shared goal, contribute actively to the team efforts, and possess a positive attitude in working with others as a team
• Able to work on an elevated worksurface
• Able to work varying shifts as needed, outdoors, in varying weather conditions, and in elevated areas
• Possess basic maintenance welding skills
• Possess effective coordination and communication skills
• Possess strong mechanical aptitude, knowledge, and skills
• Working knowledge of repair and maintenance of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical, power
