Job Profile

The company is searching for a Mechanic Helper who will be responsible for assisting the plant foreman and plant operator in the maintenance and repair of plant equipment.

Also, perform general labor such as cleaning up around plant equipment, and other upkeep tasks as needed.

A forklift, man lift, water truck, and various vehicles will be used in the performance of this position.

Area and Equipment inspections are required before and after use.

Educational Qualification

• Applicants should have a High School Diploma or Equivalent

Work Experience

• Possess job-related experience (a plus)

Duties/Responsibilities

• Assist mechanics in the maintenance of various vehicles and equipment
• Communicate deficiencies to plant personnel
• Conducts MSHA pre-shift safety inspections of equipment and work areas.
• Ensures a safe work environment for yourself and others at all times.
• Perform other general labor tasks in support of the plant and grounds upkeep as needed.
• Prioritizes Safety, then quality, followed by production.
• Will take an active role in the plant safety initiatives.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

• Basic math, reading, and writing skills are required
• General mechanical aptitude is required
• Good communication skills
• Must be safety-oriented and exhibit safe work habits
• Must have basic knowledge of heavy equipment, welding, cutting, and general mechanics
• Punctual and reliable; good attendance required
• Self-motivated and eager to learn new skills
• Team-player

Physical Requirements

• Able to lift 75 pounds
• Able to work from elevated platforms
• Able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Must be able to pass pre-employment physical/drug/alcohol test
• Willing and able to use a shovel when required
• Willing to work overtime and weekends as needed
