Job Profile
The company is recruiting a Team Leader who will be responsible to lead a trade team of Project technicians and to build custom-engineered HVAC equipment in a shop environment utilizing equipment construction skills and knowledge of air conditioning and the skills needed for that trade team.
There will be several Team Lead roles available that include Electrical, Wrap, Sheet Metal, and Refrigeration.
Educational Qualification
- Applicants should have completed 2-year of College or Technical School
Work Experience
- Possess 4 years of related experience or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Certificates/Licenses
- License Preferred (e.g., Certified Welder, Sheet Metal Journeyman, HVAC Journeyman, etc.), EPA Certification (preferred)
- A Valid driver’s license
Duties/Responsibilities
- Assists with general office and shop initiatives as needed, helping to improve the business while controlling expenses and increasing income.
- Attends, contributes to, or leads meetings with team members, salesmen, customers, and management as needed.
- Communicates effectively with project managers and teammates regarding issues of project scope and schedule.
- Documents work by completing paperwork on each job, including daily time, refrigerant logs, test logs, and parts logs.
- Effectively works with purchasing and inventory personnel and returns unused resources.
- Flexibility to occasionally travel with occasional overnight stays.
- Flexibility to occasionally work in other company departments when needed.
- Flexibility to work overtime/weekends, as required.
- Follows company standards for construction and quality.
- Follows the standards and guidelines set for that trade team.
- Identifies parts to order for construction, testing, and repair of equipment.
- Is responsible for maintaining his/her trade team build standards and to collaborate with engineering to ensure success.
- Keeps current on aspects of Trane products including installation, operation, maintenance, service, and repair of unitary rooftop equipment, direct digital control systems, and other products/systems as needed.

- Maintains project files.
- Maintains tools and equipment by inspecting for signs of wear and performing any needed periodic maintenance.
- Maintains work area in a neat, clean, and organized manner.
- Prepares for assigned personal projects by examining project binders, consulting with the project manager and other technicians, anticipating difficulties, gathering materials, and coordinating work, as necessary.
- Promote and adhere to LEAN guidelines
- Promotes and follows company safety policies to team members and subcontractors.
- Provides technical support to customers when required on assigned projects.
- Provides technical support, service, or training at customer site when needed.
- Responsible for building custom equipment on assigned projects.
- Responsible to assist the shop supervisor in performing mid-year reviews, year-end reviews, and PMP functions as set forth by company guidelines.
- Turns in all required paperwork and reports in a timely manner.
- Uses a variety of hand tools, interpreting drawings, schematics, sketches, pictures, and verbal instructions to lay out, fabricate, pipe, wire, and assemble the equipment.
- Works closely with other technicians, project managers, project engineers, and interns in a team environment, offering technical advice, status information, and other help as needed.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (required)
- Familiarity with mechanical contracting, Energy Management Systems, HVAC Systems, or Temperature Controls (preferred)
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write simple correspondence
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to stand, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, talk, and hear.
- The employee frequently is required to walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Occasionally required to sit.
- Must regularly lift or move up to 10 pounds frequently, lift or move up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
- Requires working mainly in a typical semi-conditioned shop environment and occasionally in a typical conditioned office environment.
- The noise level in the shop environment is usually loud. The noise level in the office environment is usually moderate.
- Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, heavy equipment, risk of electrical shock (high voltage), and fumes or airborne particles.
- Occasionally, working outdoors, in mechanical/equipment rooms, in extreme weather conditions, and in areas with vibration is possible.
- Occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions and high, precarious places.
