Job Profile

The company is looking for a Welder who will engage in the full scope of MIG weld processes on a variety of structural steel including (but not limited to) rigid frame columns, rafters, pipe, beam canopy rafters, small parts, clips, and special assemblies. Welded parts may include thin gauge, painted, or galvanized material.

Educational Qualification

• Applicants may be required a High School Diploma

Work Experience

• Possess a minimum of 1 year of experience welding in a production environment or valid Welding Certification
• Ability to obtain and maintain CWB and AWS Welding Certification in accordance with Cornerstone Building Brands welding procedures
• Experience with a forklift or overhead crane operation (a plus)

Duties/Responsibilities

• Ability to decide how much and what repairs to make for pin holes and burn-through caused by an auto welder
• Ability to decide when adjustment or gun manipulation needs to be altered
• Ability to operate the overhead crane and other lifting equipment
• Ability to read a tape measure and blueprints to shop standard
• Ability to train and teach proper welding procedures in accordance with manufacturing job procedures
• Knows and understands all safety rules and precautions necessary for working in and about a manufacturing environment
• Maintains continuous improvement practices in the work area
• Responsible for coordination of welder settings, gun speed/travel, and gas flow with the observed condition of bead
• Responsible for holding beads to specified shapes, sizes, and penetrations while maintaining the quality of the product
• Responsible for keeping numerical and alphabetical sequences correct.
• While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear

• Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment

• Comfort and familiarity with power hand tools
• General mathematical knowledge and proficiency with basic measuring instruments
• Willingness to train, certify, and operate forklift and overhead crane
• Thorough knowledge of welding techniques
• High attention to detail in a fast-paced production environment
• Ability to read blueprints and drawings
