Job Profile

The company is hiring a Structural Welder who will be responsible for welding together structural build-up parts or steel components previously fitted.

Utilize Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) process equipment while following shop details specifications.

Educational Qualification

Applicants may require a High School Diploma or Equivalent

Work Experience

Must be able to apply an acceptable Complete Joint Penetration weld to pass the Ultrasonic test in accordance with AWSD1.1
Must be able to apply an acceptable weld to pass a visual test in accordance with AWSD1.1
Must pass a 2G butt weld test in 1” steel coupon

Duties/Responsibilities

Adjust the welding unit to obtain amperage and voltage as specified by Whirlwind Standard.
Back gouge to sound metal all flanges and connections plates splices to insure a Complete Joint Penetration Weld to pass the in-house Ultrasonic test.
Identifies the finished part using his/her Qualified Welder’s Identification number.
Manually guides electrode or gun along weld line, maintaining the length of arc and speed of movement to form specified depth of fusion and bead, as judged from color of metal, the sound of weld, and size of molten puddle.
Reads and interprets shop details to determine specific welding requirements.
Visual examines weld for bead size and other specifications.
Welds in a flat and horizontal position
Welds to pass a visual Inspection test in accordance with AWS D1.1 welding code.
