Job Profile

The company is hiring a Pipeline Technician with knowledge of high-pressure natural gas pipeline systems, reciprocating compressors, turbines, gas measurement facilities, and other related equipment.

Education Level

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Work Experience

  • Experience in locating and marking subsurface pipeline infrastructure
  • Gas Handling
  • LOTO experience
  • Previous energy industry or related experience

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Assist in full or partial gas compressor overhauls, to include heads, pistons, rings, liners, pins, bushings, and bearings
  • Complete the required Department of Transportation (DOT) and Company documentation
  • Complete work orders, generate gas handling plans, LOTO Equipment, and pipeline segments for maintenance, enter data into job plans, create new work orders, etc., in SAP
  • Locate and visually mark subsurface pipeline infrastructure with paint or flags
  • Operate the company truck
  • Operate compressor engines and support equipment
  • Oversee and manage pipeline or utility crossings and encroachments
  • Patrol the pipeline right-of-way and assist with leak surveys
  • Perform pipeline locates through the Indiana state one-call system
  • Perform pipeline maintenance activities such as leak repair, clearing and inspection of right-of-way, and assisting with tie-ins of mainline valves
  • Plan, coordinate, and perform mechanical maintenance activities, to include routine corrective maintenance, preventive maintenance, equipment and system improvements, and major maintenance projects
  • Troubleshoot, operate, and maintain gas-fired reciprocating compressors, turbines, standby generator engines, centrifugal and diaphragm pumps, low-pressure boilers, oil coolers, air compressors, large-bank cooler fans and gear boxes, large-diameter valves and operators, and other auxiliary equipment
  • Other tasks as required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Industrial experience in a plant environment
  • Knowledge of reciprocating compressors, turbines, and standby generators
  • Knowledge of regulators or meters

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Ability to use diagnostic tools and technical software
  • Knowledge of pipeline systems and components
  • Proficient in monitoring and maintaining flow equipment
  • Skilled in detecting and repairing leaks or damages
  • Understanding of safety and environmental regulations

Work Environment

  • Travel to other company locations for temporary assignments, meetings, or training, which would involve some overnight stays away from home
  • Be subject to working conditions which include adverse weather and temperatures, heavy lifting (50 pounds), and cramped conditions
