Job Profile

The company is searching for a Senior Manufacturing Engineer who will be responsible for generating detailed methods for fabricating and assembly processes, as well as establishing a full scope work packet and span time estimates.

Support the product line by developing detailed manufacturing schedules and ensuring compliance with quality standards.

Take the lead to plan, track, analyze, and report on project schedules of varying size and complexity.

Provide key support to project and program management efforts, monitoring workflow, coordinating, tracking the schedule, and identifying key project delivery risks and issues.

Develop schedules to meet requirements in support of Customer Contracts.

Interact daily with program management team members (Project Managers, Program Managers, Craft Managers, Safety, and Quality Dept.), and employees.

Education Level

  • HS with 8+ years
  • AA with 6+ years
  • BS with 4+ years

Work Experience

  • Experience in production management, manufacturing, or production planning.
  • US Naval Shipbuilding experience (desirable)
  • Experience applying lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprint drawings
  • Ability to understand and translate site capabilities
  • Analyze and address production issues on time
  • Convert work packages to a high-level schedule to oversee the workflow of the production and fabrication efforts.
  • Determine manufacturing process steps required to attain optimal workflow through all machining, assembly, welding, and quality control work center operations, including making recommendations for the purchase of tools and equipment to improve efficiency
  • Develop document templates to standardize policies, Work Instructions, and other document formats. Ensure document content includes compliance requirements, best practices, and procedural instructions for a wide variety of production operations activities
  • Ensure that the requirements of the safety handbook are properly followed and enforced
  • Escalate Long Lead Time Material issues and assist with developing appropriate corrective actions.
  • Establish sequence and lead time of each operation to meet completion dates according to production forecasts or customer work specifications and drawing orders
  • Evaluate the equipment and tools needed to optimize ergonomics for employees
  • Incorporate engineering changes
  • Interpret the Engineering/Design plan requirements to develop detailed work instructions for fitting and welding fabrication
  • Monitor production capacity and identify potential bottlenecks or constraints, collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement solutions
  • Track lessons learned during execution to apply in future iterations

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Ability to effectively communicate with managers and employees at all levels, both orally and in writing, including writing white papers and presentations as needed
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume production environment.
  • Deep understanding of quality and accuracy control
  • Heavy background in construction, fabrication, packaging, outfitting of sub-assemblies, and major units of manufacturing work.
  • Must be physically and medically qualified to wear the required personal protective equipment.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
  • Must have strong Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Must have strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in reading fabrication blueprints, drawings, and other shipbuilding technical references.
  • Strong ability to read, write, and support the execution of manufacturing planning packages.
  • Strong understanding of welding procedures and fabrication design
