Job Profile
The company is looking to hire a Pipe Fitter Fabricator who will lay out, fabricate, prepare and check pipe against job specifications for assembly at the job site.
No per diem is available, ideal for local candidates
Educational Qualification
- Applicants may be required a High School Diploma
- NCCER (highly preferred)
Work Experience
- Possess 4 years of experience in specified skill (depending on mechanic level)
- Must be able to pass craft test and safety council courses in English
Duties/Responsibilities
- Interprets spool sheet diagrams to determine the size, shapes, and angles of required pipes, pipe fittings, flanges, etc.
- Plans sequence of fabrication
- Measures and cuts pipe
- Cleans and prepares pipe by grinding; bends and threads pipe (may operate bending machine)
- Assembles and joins pipe and pipe fittings
- May operate the hydraulic lift to relocate the pipe
Qualification Standards
- Applicant/employee must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of such individual or others in the workplace
- Hazard Communication orientation/test
- Job site orientation
- Job site safety requirements as required by the client (clean shaven, long sleeves, steel toe boots, etc.)
- OSHA-approved corrective eyewear (Z87)
- Post-offer drug/alcohol screen and physical evaluation
- Safety equipment as required by the client (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, respirator, hearing protection, safety harness with lanyard, etc.)
- Turner Industries Group, LLC indoctrination
- Written pre-employment qualification test
Tools/Equipment
- Employee may be required to provide the following: toolbox, pipe wrenches, crescent wrenches, level, torpedo level, square, tri square, plumb bob, channel lock, hammer, center punch, flat or regular screwdriver, Phillips screwdriver, set of combination wrenches, tape, folding rule, wrap-around, work gloves, striker, cutting goggles, tip cleaner, chisel, rain suit.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- 40 hours plus, must be available to work overtime as needed
- Background check and drug test required
Physical Requirements
- Climbing ladders, scaffolds, structures, etc. above and below ground level
- Maintaining balance on ladders, scaffold structures, etc.
- Reaching in all directions, handling and manipulating objects and materials
- Coordinating the movements of eyes, hands, and fingers to operate tools and equipment
- Lifting 30 to 50 pounds from ground level, waist level, or overhead
- Carrying objects, tools, equipment, etc.
- Standing; sitting; walking; pushing; pulling; bending; kneeling; crouching/squatting; crawling; seeing with or without correction; hearing with or without correction
Mental Involvement (may be required)
- Following set procedures and standards
- Applying basic mathematical skills
- Planning work and selecting the proper tools
- Comparing and understanding differences in the size, shape, and form of lines, figures, and objects
- Picturing and evaluating solid objects from drawing or diagrams using standards that can be measured or checked
- Following oral or written directions, plans, and blueprints
- Reading; writing; ability to recognize and report safety hazards
Work Environment
- Job Site: predominately outdoor climate; may be exposed to extreme hot or cold weather, excessive humidity, rain, etc.; various noise levels caused by tools, machinery, equipment, etc.; potential exposure to chemical substances
- Location: Industrial construction sites or fabrication shop
- Mobility Barriers to Access Job Site: uneven ground level; obstructed pathways; work performed at low or high elevations; work performed in confined areas
