Job Profile

The company is seeking a Fabricator who will set up and operate all production machines (cut-to-length, brake, shear, punch press, saws, etc.) following written and verbal instructions, closely adhering to company standards.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Detect and report faulty operations, materials, and working conditions to the supervisor.
  • Follow written and verbal instructions, sketches, diagrams, and standard procedures closely adhering to company quality standards.
  • Inspect material upon selection, reporting any deviation from standard to Supervisor. The cut-to-length operator is responsible for the sheet and plate area.
  • Maintain the work area, equipment, and tools in clean orderly condition.
  • Promote the 5S concept of order and housekeeping.
  • Set up and operate all production machines to perform the direct function of the department.
  • Use safety equipment as instructed. Follow safety regulations and company policies.
  • Perform other duties and cross-train as required or assigned.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Ability to operate a forklift.
  • A cut-to-length operator must operate a 7 ½ ton overhead crane.
  • Good working knowledge of production machines, setup, maintenance, and safeguarding.
  • Requires the use of math and various measuring devices in interpreting and following written instructions and engineering drawings.

Physical Demands

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
  • Regularly lift or move up to 25#, frequently lift or move up to 35# and occasionally lift or move up to 70#.
  • Physical fitness to perform all functions of designated work areas. This includes small tool use, full arm and leg range of motion, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, working in awkward positions, talking, and hearing.
