Job Profile

The company is looking for a Grinding Operator who will set up, operate, or tend grinding and related tools that remove excess material or burrs from surfaces, sharpen edges or corners, or buff, hone, or polish metal pieces.

Educational Qualification

• Applicants should have a High School Diploma or GED

Work Experience

• Possess 1 to 2 years of manufacturing experience
• Equivalent combination of education and experience

Special Requirements

• Machine shop work environment; dust, grease, and metal shavings are common.
• Requires the use of the following personal protective equipment.
• Safety glasses, steel-toed shoes/boots.
• Must be able to work overtime, including weekends as requested; work safely in a fast-paced environment

Duties/Responsibilities

Essential Duties-

• Examines and feels surface of work piece for defects.
• Moves grinder over the surface of work piece to remove scratches and imperfections
• Operate all tools for grinding, deburring, sanding, and polishing while being proficient in grinding sheet metal.
• Polishes ground areas with finer abrasive to produce a smooth, unmarred surface

Non-essential Duties-

• Assists in other production areas as needed
• Follows all safety procedures
• Replaces worn abrasive disks, wheels, and belts
• Selects grade of abrasive belt, wheel, or disk according to specifications

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

• Able to follow directions precisely and perform repetitive tasks
• Possesses basic technical knowledge of grinding tools and their safe operation
