Job Profile
The company is searching for a Manufacturing Engineer (Joining) who will help to build world-class, state-of-the-art smart vehicles in the world.
Educational Qualification
- Applicants should have a Bachelor’s Degree in Welding/Joining Engineering, Materials Science, or Mechanical Engineering from a college/university
Work Experience
- Possess 2 or more years of experience in manufacturing (internship or coop experience will be considered)
Duties/Responsibilities
- Approve joining gun designs
- Assess joining feasibility through Global Product Development System (GPDS) milestones
- Assist Launch Team Manufacturing Engineers with a resolution to Global Manufacturing Requirement (GMR) open issues.
- Assist plants with developing robust joining quality control plans
- Author and update Vehicle Operations Structures Standards for joining processes
- Develop and update joining-related GMRs
- Document joining-related lessons learned
- Ensure up-front enablers are provided on launch for plant control plan execution
- Launch joining tooling and new technologies with 100% effectiveness
- Lead the materials joining activities for assigned New Model Launches
- Provide technical expertise for plant and supplier quality issues
- Work with joining equipment suppliers for quality and cost improvements
- Travel up to 50% within North America
Preferred Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in, or a related discipline
- Experience with automotive body construction methods, with joining experience preferred
- Familiarity with existing joining technologies – welding, adhesive bonding, and mechanical fastening
- Knowledge of welding and joining industry standards
