Job Profile

The company is seeking a Mechanic who will perform the installation and repair of mechanical and piping systems and equipment.

The position will have to carry out all other tasks related to his function.

The individual will work under the supervision of foremen.

Educational Qualification

• Applicants should have a Diploma in Mechanics, Plumbing, and Heating, or in any related fields

Work Experience

• Possess 0 to 2 years of experience in mechanics of all kinds
• Experience in boat mechanics (an asset)
• Experience in the naval industry (an asset)

Duties/Responsibilities

• Carry out the inspection and repair of fixed and traveling appliances or machinery that will be subject to inspection
• Install and repair mechanical systems on vessels under construction or in dry dock
• Install and repair plumbing systems
• Maintain and repair machinery
• Maintain and repair work equipment
• Participate in major repairs as directed by the mechanical foreman: use lifting equipment, disassemble and reassemble machines and pieces of equipment, handle parts and participate in tests of completion as directed
• Perform other standard maintenance work
• Perform preventive inspections
• Test repaired equipment to ensure that it works well and that repairs are consistent with the manufacturer’s requirements
• Perform any other duty as may be assigned by his immediate supervisor

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

• Able to work at heights and in confined spaces
• Knowledge of diesel mechanics and piping
