The company is looking for a Mill Diagnostic Mechanic I to join its team.
Education Level
- High School Diploma or GED
Work Experience
- 2 years of experience in mechanical/maintenance crafts (including welder, boilermaker, machinist, or facility maintenance/construction) or a combination of education and experience in industrial mechanical repair and maintenance.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Act as a Fill-in Supervisor as needed.
- May operate equipment such as forklifts, overhead cranes, pneumatic air tools, and small mobile equipment.
- Perform component diagnostic replacement and repairs on, but not limited to: Crushers, overlaying conveyor systems, ball mills, auto mills, screen decks, lube systems, compressors, filter drums, hydraulic filter presses, foundry pumps, and lubrication systems.
- Perform mechanical and lubrication preventative maintenance: identify potential failures, noises, wear on agitators, rotors, belts, pulleys, and gearboxes.
- Perform welding (Stick, TIG).
- Prioritize and make decisions regarding equipment repair as needed.
- Train and mentor other employees.
- Perform other duties as required.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Ability to read and use schematics and blueprints.
- Ability to communicate in English for job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards.
- Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures in English.
- FPM Diagnostic Mechanic I: The selected candidate shall demonstrate the ability to apply knowledge and technical skills while achieving a 35% score on a written assessment, where required. This exam is based on technical skills/abilities or academic knowledge, as well as safety. Must be able to demonstrate proficient basic welding skills.
- Must have completed academic and practical competencies required (this includes Line of Progression requirements for internal employees where LOP exists) and have experience demonstrating the required mechanical aptitude.
- Time management skills.
Work Environment
- Exposed to dust, noise, grease, and heavy machinery
- May work shifts, weekends, or in extreme weather conditions
- Performs physically demanding tasks like lifting, climbing, and crawling
- Wears PPE including hard hats, safety glasses, and steel-toe boots
- Works in mining or milling environments, often outdoors or in large facilities
