Job Profile

The company is searching for a Quality Control Inspector who will inspect the fabricated products for compliance with CBSS Quality Control System, ASME BPV, and NBBPVI codes, customer specifications, and fabrication documents. Inspections may be carried out in the production shop, and field sites.

Welding terminology and welding processes knowledge is required to interpret and verify the proper use of welding techniques in the fabrication environment.

Educational Qualification

  • Applicants should have a High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Bachelor’s Degree (preferred)

Work Experience

  • Possess a minimum of 3 years of experience as a Quality Control Inspector in an ASME Code fabrication shop
  • Associated experience is considered

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Communicate and interface with Authorized Inspector.
  • Create QC Data Packages for submission to the customer at the completion of the job.
  • Documentation of product inspection milestones on QC Documents, i.e. travelers.
  • In-process inspection of parts fabricated in the shop, including fit-up of and sub-assemblies, for dimensional accuracy and proper part geometry.
  • Incoming inspection of materials ordered for jobs, documenting materials that meet the requisition, specification, drawings, and CBSS QC requirements.
  • Inspection of product finish and marking requirements, tags, item/part, and job numbers are applied as required by approved documents
  • Inspection of welded assemblies for use of proper weld process, consumable material, and weld size and type in accordance with approved documents.
  • Maintain job files for each assigned job.
  • Maintain required calibration certification for QC tools used in inspection duties.
  • Prepare and maintain a written inspector diary on a daily bases.
  • Prepare and process material, and sub-contractor service, requisitions for assigned jobs.
  • Prepare Manufactures ASME Code Data Reports, and NBIC Repair Certifications for documentation of work completed.
  • Proactively participate in a continuous process and methodology improvement.
  • Travel required. Not a local or shop position.
  • Verification of welder qualifications.
  • Perform all duties in a safe and conscientious manner with a professional attitude.
  • Other duties as assigned by the manager.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Ability to prioritize and make sound judgments with little to no supervision
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Advanced skills with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Can manage multiple projects simultaneously and keep them progressing to completion
  • Strong organizational skills are a must
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills

Physical Requirements

  • Basic reading, writing, and math skills, (arithmetic, geometry, trig.), are required. This is normally acquired through a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, (Word, Excel,) Duties requires professional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge in the use of micrometers, calipers, and other QC tools.
  • Working Knowledge of AWS welding terminology and welding symbols.

Working Conditions

  • Working conditions are normal for a production shop and field site environment. In covered shops to rebuild existing field erected equipment in place.
  • Requires the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to traverse production shop, and field site, environments. Typical PPE would include steel-toed work boots, safety glasses, earplugs, a hard hat, and protective clothing.
  • Confined space and elevated work in harness would be required, (Safety training provided) Routine lifting of up to 50 pounds.
  • Work Hours- 40 hrs is a normal work week, overtime is used only if required, however 24-hour availability, 7 days a week is required. Travel from one day/week to multiple weeks is common.
  • On-call weekends on a rotating basis.
