Job Profile

The company is recruiting Structural Welder who will be responsible for welding parts and material using the FCAW process, applying an acceptable weld to pass the visual test in accordance with AWS D1.1, and applying an acceptable Complete Joint Penetration weld to pass the Ultrasonic test in accordance with AWS D1.1

Educational Qualification

• Applicants should have a High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Must possess a current welding certification

Work Experience

• Possess a minimum of 2 years of welding experience

Duties/Responsibilities

• Adjust the welding unit to obtain amperage and voltage as specified by Whirlwind Standard.
• Back gouge to sound metal all flanges and connection plates splices to ensure a Complete Joint Penetration Weld to pass the in-house Ultrasonic test.
• Identify finished parts using his/her Qualified Welder’s Identification number.
• Manually guide electrode or gun along weld line, maintaining the length of arc and speed of movement to form specified depth of fusion and bead, as judged by the color of metal, the sound of weld, and size of molten puddle.
• Read and interpret shop details to determine specific welding requirements.
• Visual examine weld for bead size and other specifications.
• Weld in flat, horizontal, and Vertical positions using FCAW (Flux Core Arc Welding)
• Weld to pass a visual Inspection test in accordance with AWS D1.1 welding code.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

• Ability to accurately read and interpret welding detail drawings.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Familiarity with welding equipment and tools.
• Knowledge of welding safety protocols.
• Must be able to apply an acceptable Complete Joint Penetration weld to pass the Ultrasonic test in accordance with AWS D1.1.
• Must be able to apply an acceptable weld to pass the visual test in accordance with AWS D1.1.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
