Job Profile
The company is searching for a Journeyman Welder who will be responsible for using TIG and GTAW welding techniques to weld various components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.
Educational Qualification
- The applicants should have a High School Diploma or GED
Work Experience
- The candidates should have 1 year of minimum welding experience (verifiable) or equivalent weld schooling
Duties/Responsibilities
- Bench, peen, roll, forge, stretch/shrink to restore the dimensional sand structural integrity on various engine hardware
- Examines weld for bead size and other specifications
- Lifting, moving, and holding or clamping workpieces to table, into jigs, or into position manually or by using a pry bar
- Manually applies filler rod to supply weld metal
- Moving workpieces, tools, and supplies, manually or by hand truck
- Perform layout, setup, and weld on a variety of aircraft engine component parts and assemblies
- Performing any combination of duties to assist in welding, brazing, and thermal and arc spraying
- Use argon chambers and gas backups
- Use file, bench grinders, hand grinders, etc., to perform welding preparation, defect removal, and manual dimensional restoration
- Overtime as needed
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Ability and willingness to work in an area where due to normal machining operations there may be dust, fumes, or smoke (not over OSHA Permissible Exposure Levels)
- Ability to have a flexible schedule
- Ability to work in areas where there is moderate noise intensity
- Demonstrate ability to work from prints, sketches, planning, or verbal instructions and weld a variety of parts and assemblies
- GTAW experience verifiable or equivalent schooling for GTAW
- Must be able to certify within 30 days after placement and complete timely periodic certification thereafter
- Proficiency in the fabrication of heat sinks and related items for performing individual weld operations
- Read measuring instruments, including air gauges
