Job Profile

The company is looking for a Product Development Engineer who will be responsible for the planning, initiating, and completing of assigned projects.

The duties include the designing of new products and custom products; reviewing product deviations by Manufacturing; providing technical support to marketing, customers, or distributors; maintaining CAD drawing files; supervising or assisting in the training of junior product engineers; supervising product testing technicians, test pad maintenance and generating test reports as necessary.

Will interface with all functional areas of the organization while reporting to the VP of Product Development.

Educational Qualification

• Applicants should have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Material Science from a college/university
• Must have a working knowledge of the strength of materials and be mechanically inclined

Work Experience

• Preferred – 3 to 5 years of experience in composite product design work and preference to include experience in engineering drafting.
• Preferred – Experience designing components and generating drawings for items to be produced by common manufacturing processes like milling, turning, and welding.
• Preferred – Experience in product development.
• Preferred – Experience troubleshooting mechanical and electrical equipment.
• Preferred – Experience with measuring equipment, micrometers, calipers, ability to read Vernier scale.
• Preferred – Experience with PLCs and PLC programming.
• Preferred – Experience with pressure and material property test equipment like pressure transducers and strain gauges.
• Preferred – Experience with visual basics for applications.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Arrange third-party testing/inspection and generate documented test reports.
• Assure dimensional compatibility of all standard products.
• Initiate engineering changes to products and mechanical equipment as needed.
• Maintain and modify as needed current manufacturing specifications
• Maintain CAD drawing files.
• Participate and lead aspects of continuous improvement, cost reduction, and new product prototyping.
• Provide technical support to all manufacturing departments and field service.
• Responsible for assuring the ease of manufacturing and safe performance of all products.
• Responsible for the design and qualification of new products and incremental product improvements.
• Responsible to keep current on all production tooling dimensions and make sure new tooling is dimensionally consistent with current and future products.
• Supervise technicians responsible for product qualification testing, production testing support, and test pad maintenance.
• Thorough understanding of required industry specifications, ensuring product compliance and participating in industry committees to improve and develop standards.
• Other duties as assigned.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

• Proficient in Word, Excel, and SolidWorks
