Job Profile

The company is seeking a Quality Specialist who will support the quality goals of Gardner through vendor source inspection, internal weld inspection, and cross-functional team support.

The role requires a sense of urgency and customer focus, aligning priorities to the successful operation of a fully-loaded manufacturing facility.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Act with a sense of urgency in support of manufacturing output, reduction of rework, and achievement of tact time
  • Assist with internal and external training to improve welding and testing methods, processes, and procedures.
  • Complete internal weld inspections
  • Complete vendor source inspections aligned with proactive risk mitigation
  • Develop a thorough understanding of key criteria and manufacturing steps that are differentiating to product performance and customer satisfaction
  • Ensure vendors utilize correct revision of drawings, procedures, and specifications.
  • Verify periodically vendor’s manufacturing process to ensure compliance with Gardner’s quality and manufacturing procedures.
  • Review and verify vendor evacuation logs to ensure testing process, readings and procedures are in compliance with Gardner quality requirements.
  • Review vendor’s WQTR, WPS/PQR and ensure qualified welders perform welding on projects.
  • Review/ Verify Mill Test Reports (MTR) for the material being used by vendors for manufacturing.
  • Submit inspection reports (vendor and in a shop), NCR/Variation to QC Supervisor for review and enter variations where necessary.
  • Work with vendors and Supplier Quality Management to ensure vendor issues are addressed and root cause analyses performed where appropriate.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Ability to travel locally 30-40% with occasional overnight domestic or international travel as needed.
  • Highly motivated, detailed, results-oriented with strong execution, managing to target dates, organization, and communication (verbal and written)
  • Manufacturing, quality management, and root cause analysis experience required.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications required.
  • Strong team building and collaboration skills, developing strong relationships to drive progress toward deliverables
  • Working knowledge of ASME and welding and fabrication experience required.
  • Working knowledge of cryogenic pressure vessels (e.g. vacuum, leak integrity, etc.)
