Job Profile

The company (SPM Oil and Gas) is looking for a Welder who will carry out processes according to standard welding procedures.

Lays out, fits, and welds fabricated, cast, and forged components to assemble structural forms such as machinery frames, tanks, and pressure vessels.

Educational Qualification

• Applicants should have a High School Diploma or GED
• Journeyman Welder Provincial Trade Certification (preferred)
• Apprentices also welcome to apply

Work Experience

• Possess 1 to 2 years of related experience or training

Duties/Responsibilities

• Bolts, clamps, and tack-welds parts to secure in position for welding.
• Lays out, positions, aligns, and fits components together.
• Must be able to perform and pass welding certification tests.
• Reads blueprints to ensure the accuracy of finished parts.
• Repairs products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts.
• Resolves welding needs and issues by applying expertise and industry knowledge (including usage of welding codes).
• Selects equipment and plans layout, assembly, and welding.
• Sets up equipment and welds parts using shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), gas metal arc welding (GMAW), and gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW).
• Uses expertise and knowledge to train and mentor fellow welders, including aiding Welders levels I and II in setting up welding equipment according to the standard processes.
• Works with Leads and Supervisors to improve processes in the welding shop.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

• Ability to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions and deal with problems
• Demonstrate the ability to accurately complete all work-related documents.
• Fluency in English (read, write, comprehend)
• Must have basic knowledge of Critical Safety Devices and their purpose.
• Must have mechanical aptitude
• Must understand all Permit Systems.
• Observe safety and security procedures
• Understand basic operating principles for all plant machinery
