Job Profile

The company is seeking a Doser Product Engineer who will be responsible for all engineering considerations related to the lifecycle management and support of Chart’s Liquid Nitrogen Dosing Systems.

Work closely with other stakeholders (product managers, new product development, quality, manufacturing, customer service, purchasing, etc.) to improve and maintain product lines and ensure customer satisfaction.

Must show initiative and be an excellent leader, driving results through cross-functional peers.

Additionally, need to have strong problem-solving skills and general engineering knowledge in the areas of heat transfer, fluids, thermodynamics, and structural analysis.

Educational Qualification

  • Applicants should have a BS Engineering Degree (preferably in Mechanical Engineering) but will consider Aerospace, Materials Science, or Nuclear Engineering disciplines from a college/university
  • MS Degree or MBA (a plus)

Work Experience

  • Possess a minimum of 3+ years of relevant engineering experience (required)

Preferred Ones-

  • Experience managing or developing product lines in small to mid-size companies
  • Experience with JD Edwards, SAP, or similar ERP systems
  • Finite Element Analysis (FEA) skills
  • MathCAD or MATLAB skills
  • Understanding of cryogenic liquids, compressed gasses, or refrigeration

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Assist sales with quotes, drawings, site surveys, and sketches
  • Assist with validation testing of products, as needed
  • Ensure best practices in engineering design are utilized for all products to meet customer needs and provide the desired service life
  • Ensure products conform to all relevant industry codes or regulations
  • Improve product consistency and reduce variance and warranty claims by working across the organization to identify and resolve potential defects
  • Own product design and documentation, ensure manufacturing documentation is in place and up to date, and lead product improvement and cost reduction
  • Own the product lifecycle from an engineering perspective to meet the functional needs of the market, while ensuring long-term product reliability
  • Provide support and engineering documentation for technical inquiries from customers
  • Provide technical information and define specifications for components, assemblies, and final products; work with suppliers to design and develop subcomponents and subassemblies
  • Review/Approve/Process change requests, design deviations, and non-conformance reports as needed
  • Work with product managers and interface with customers to determine product needs
  • Work with product managers, R&D, and product development teams to help define and execute the product line roadmap
  • Work with interdepartmental teams to ensure continuous compliance with ISO and other standards

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Demonstrated ability to plan and manage multiple tasks
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Highly motivated self-starter and a team leader
  • Proficient with MS Office; especially Excel, but also Teams, Word, PowerPoint
  • Proven ability to create and modify SolidWorks CAD parts and assemblies
  • Understanding of heat transfer, thermodynamics, and fluid flow
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing processes, sheet metal fabrication, machining, and welding

Physical Requirements

  • Frequent computer work
  • Frequent lifting up to 25 lbs., occasional heavier lifting
  • Frequent standing, sitting, and walking
  • Minimal work-related travel may be required (approximately 15% or less)

Work Environment

  • Production factory support and office environment
  • Involve possible exposure to materials with rough edges, temperature extremes, moving mechanical parts, occasional flying debris, chemical cleaning solvents, and their odors.
  • Working with cryogenic products will involve possible exposure to pressurized flammable gas, pressurized oxidizing gas, pressurized inert gas, and very low temperatures (-320º F).
