Job Profile
The company is looking for a Lead Design Engineer who will ensure the CAD design team is consistently supplying our manufacturing facility with on-time, high-quality designs that meet our internal and external stakeholders’ needs.
Key priorities for this role include scheduling the team’s workload, developing team members, improving/automating processes, and maintaining the quality of the team’s output.
Educational Qualification
- Applicants should have a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from a college/university
Work Experience
- Possess a minimum 7 years of relevant design and drafting experience in an industrial environment
- Water Treatment experience (preferred)
- Previous supervisory/managerial experience (preferred)
Duties/Responsibilities
- Communicate effectively with internal departments within Chart
- Conduct team collaboration meetings for training, project tracking, and team challenges
- Implement enhanced training and onboarding processes for new and existing employees
- Lead and mentor a team of designers for tasks at hand and career development
- Manage drawing practices to meet industry and Chart standards
- Manage team workload to meet customer demands and the manufacturing schedule
- Manage workload of offsite design resources
- Promote and maintain a positive work environment
- Regularly meet with individual team members to provide appropriate feedback
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Knowledge and experience designing for common manufacturing processes such as machining, metal stamping/spinning, plastic injection molding, welding, sheet metal fabrication, 3D printing, etc.
- Must have an in-depth working knowledge of Solid Works and PDM/PLM systems (AutoCAD experience is a plus)
