Metrolinx is connecting communities and operates GO Transit and UP Express, as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. It is also building new and improved rapid transit, including GO Expansion, Light Rail Transit routes, and major expansions to Toronto’s subway system. Job Profile

The company is seeking a Millwright who will ensure GO Transit facilities, plant equipment, and systems are operated and maintained in a safe and effective manner.

Educational Qualification

• Applicants should have a completed Trade School
• Must have an Industrial Mechanic Millwright Certification

Work Experience

• Possess a minimum of 2 years of experience involving the operation and specialized maintenance of large facilities and of the associated equipment supporting Rail repair
• Experience in gas cutting, soldering, brazing, gas/arc welding, hydraulic and pneumatic systems

Duties/Responsibilities

• Carries out emergency measures
• Identifies parts, components, and materials required for repairs
• Monitors the operation of on-site contractors
• Operates and maintains assigned vehicles, equipment, and tools safely
• Operates repairs and maintains equipment, systems, and structures
• Prepares records for the Supervisor’s relative inspections, work accomplished, etc.
• Provides guidance to Plant Mechanics and Plant Serviceperson
• Purchases parts, components, and materials relative to facility requirements
• Troubleshoots minor electrical issues

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

• Ability to obtain and maintain First Aid Certification.
• Ability to obtain GO Transit Equipment Operator’s Permit.
• Ability to operate forklifts, personnel lifts (scissors or telescopic), or other similar equipment.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Have a valid Ontario Class “G” Driver’s licence and must meet the corporate standards for a good driving record.
• Have a working knowledge of pertinent environmental regulations, codes, and health and safety regulations.
• Successfully complete environmental, safety, and any other training required by corporate policy.
