Job Profile
The company is looking for a Staff Engineer who will have the responsibility of leading technology development programs; providing on-site support at GE shops and/or suppliers to help with process issues; creating/leading training programs and mentoring the next generation technology experts; providing tools to help Design Engineering and Supply Chain personnel control welding as a Special Process.
Staff Engineer for Welding Processes acting as a process expert, helping to solve process problems and advancing the technology.
Educational Qualification
- The applicants should have a Bachelor’s Degree (Engineering, Welding, or Materials Science from an accredited college or university (preferred), or equivalent practical experience.
Work Experience
- The candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of practical/hands-on manufacturing experience in joining processes.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Act as a technical expert for Special Processes with engineering, quality, and manufacturing requirements over product’s lifecycle for joining.
- Assist in developing, growing, and sustaining the Special Process Auditor and Certifying Agent community pipeline, qualification, training, approvals for joining.
- Assist with maintaining, updating, and developing related Special Process Technology documents (e.g. P-Spec, QCWI’s, Audit Checklists) related to joining.
- Audits of GEA manufacturing sites, support for Supplier and Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO) Audits.
- Collaborate with Sourcing to assure Special Process readiness at new Suppliers.
- Develop and provide training and qualification of new and existing Certifying Agents.
- Develop Special Process control strategies for emerging technologies as required.
- Identify, lead, and implement cost reduction projects involving welding.
- Provide consultations related to compliance, technology, and manufacturing readiness at GEA sites and Suppliers.
- Represent GEA interests and lead in industry associations, as needed.
- Work with Value Streams and Sites to drive local Special Process self-sufficiency.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Ability to effectively work individually or with a team
- Ability to work with global, distributed teams to achieve results.
- Auditing experience or ability to be approved as an S-026 Auditor.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and adhere to manufacturing standards and policies.
- Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience as Certifying Agent for joining processes or has the qualifications to be approved as a Certifying Agent for joining processes.
- Experience with GE Aerospace Quality requirements and systems (e.g. NMS, SPS, eCAV, etc.)
- Experience with joining of aerospace materials and aerospace requirements (e.g. AWS D17.1)
- Experience with the change control process.
- NPI and technology development knowledge.
- Self-starter
Other Requirements
- Ability to travel domestic and international, up to 25% or as required.
