Job Profile

The company is searching for a Distribution Inspector who will inspect and ensure that all construction activities are performed within a client-required project scope of work (SOW), specifications, procedures, codes, standards, and safety requirements.

This position requires constant communication in a high-paced environment while contractors are working in restricted spaces and ROW areas within public and private property.

Accurate and detailed communication is a must in this position and will be utilized daily for record-keeping and progress tracking.

Educational Qualification

Work Experience

  • The candidates should have 3 to 5 years of experience in gas distribution, polyethylene pipe fusion, meter sets, mainline installation, knowledge of underground locating, and the HDD process.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Communicate and coordinate effectively with property owners and the general public directly affected by project construction.
  • Communicate effectively with outside agency onsite inspectors, contractor personnel, and client personnel working on various aspects of construction projects.
  • Communicate effectively with the project team during the course of construction on a daily basis. The level of communication may vary depending on the nature and size of the project.
  • Document and submit daily reporting and forms of all construction activities daily to the Distribution Management Team.
  • Ensure all work activities are performed in a safe and professional manner within the company’s Health and Safety handbook.
  • Ensure compliance with all city, county, state, and other agency permit requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with all project-specific environmental requirements, landowner stipulations, and construction requirements.
  • Inform Distribution Management immediately of any safety accidents or concerns, construction deviations, or any problems or anticipated problems.
  • Maintain daily records to support all installation activities, construction as-built, and complete paperwork.
  • Proactively communicate daily scheduling changes to Distribution Management.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Ability to read, the document clearly, and interpret the client standards and procedures to others if need be.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Should have a fundamental understanding of distribution standards, codes and construction methods, as well as safety requirements.

Work Environment

  • This job operates in a professional office environment and uses standard office equipment such as computers and phones.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to sit/stand for up to 8 hours per day.
  • Ability to move freely for up to 8 hours per day.
