Job Profile

The company is looking for a Pipefitter to join its team for engineering (piping) needs.

Educational Qualification

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Assembles and installs a variety of metal and nonmetal pipe and pipe fittings, including those made of brass, copper, lead, glass, and plastic.
  • Cuts pipe, using a hacksaw, pipe cutters, hammer and chisel, cutting torch, and pipe cutting machine.
  • Inspects worksites to determine the presence of obstructions and to ascertain that holes will not cause structural weakness.
  • Installs and maintains refrigeration and air-conditioning systems including compressors, pumps, meters, pneumatic and hydraulic controls, and piping.
  • Joins piping by means of threaded, calked, wiped, soldered, brazed, fused, or cemented joints.
  • Plans sequence of installation to avoid obstructions and activities of other construction workers.
  • Secures pipes to structure with clamps, brackets, and hangers, using hand tools.
  • Select the type/size of pipe and related materials according to job specifications.
  • Tests piping system for leaks by increasing pressure in pipes and observing gauges attached to pipes for indication of leaks.
  • Threads pipe, using threading machine, end pipe by hand or with the pipe-bending machine.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Look at flat drawings or pictures and understand how they would look as solid objects.
  • Rate information using standards that can be measured or checked.
  • Work within precise standards of accuracy.

Physical Requirements

  • Climb and maintain balance on ladders and scaffolding.
  • Coordinate the movements of eyes, hands, and fingers.
  • See well (either naturally or with correction).
  • Stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or work at heights as required and lift and carry objects weighing up to 100 pounds and occasionally more.
  • Use hands, arms, and fingers fully.
