Job Profile

The company is looking to hire a Welder I/II to join its team.

Educational Qualification

  • Applicants should have a High School Diploma or GED

Work Experience

  • Possess 5 to 10 years of welding experience using MIG, TIG, Oxy/Acetylene, and Short Arc (stick) techniques

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Operate welding equipment and basic hand and power tools.
  • Reads and completes the operations specified on the job travelers.
  • Interprets blueprints and part specifications to select the correct material, tools, and fabrication processes.
  • Sets up welding machines for welding a variety of materials.
  • Have a good working knowledge of inspection equipment and be capable of selecting the proper inspection tool to verify product conformity to specifications.
  • Serves as a mentor to lower-level welders and assists with coordinating workflow for maximum efficiency.

Non-Essential Duties-

  • Operate forklift, sandblast, and tumble parts
  • Other duties as assigned by management

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Advanced blueprint skills including knowledge of GD&T tolerances
  • Advanced familiarity with all AWS (American Welding Society) and DIN (German Institute) symbols and their proper application
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to work as a team
  • Extensive familiarity with the use of hand tools
  • General mechanical skills
  • Good math skills including basic trigonometry
  • Knowledge of the following equipment: welders, drill press, blowtorch, press brake, and forklift.
  • Knowledge of welding the following materials: Stainless Steel, Aluminum, low carbon steel, and high carbon steel.

Skill Level Knowledge Requirements-

  • Background in Industrial welding and fabrication fit-up (a plus)
  • Capable of fabricating tooling and fixtures required to properly locate and hold parts during welding operations.
  • Capable of reading and understanding blueprints, drawings, sketches, specifications, manuals, or sample parts to determine the dimensions and tolerances of the finished work pieces.
  • Determine the sequence of operations and setup requirements to build the workpiece to specifications.
  • Working knowledge of processes and needed parameters for the efficient welding of materials including proper welding machine configuration.
  • Working knowledge of the welding characteristics of ferrous metals, (Steel, Stainless Steel, Titanium, Inconel, Hastalloy, etc.) and non-ferrous metals (Aluminum, Copper, Brass, etc).

Skill Level Demonstrated Operations Skills-

  • Builds fixtures as required to hold the workpiece.
  • Clean parts as required.
  • Clean welding machines and work areas to maintain safe working conditions.
  • Complete routine machine maintenance.
  • Deburr work pieces as required.
  • Generate setup sheets and welding procedures as required to meet customer specifications.
  • Maintain statistical reporting.
  • Modify welding equipment parameters as required to meet product conformity.
  • Must be able to lift 75 lbs.
  • Must be certified in company-required welding certifications.
  • Observes operation of welding equipment and verifies conformance of workpiece to specifications using standard measuring tools.
  • Proficient use of hand and power tools used to prepare parts for welding.
  • Reads blueprint and job traveler specifications to determine the proper tooling required to set up each operation.
  • Replace welding tools as required to meet product conformity.

Skill Level Quality Control-

  • Conduct the first article inspection.
  • Conduct visual weld inspection, and accurately measure weld size in inches and millimeters.
  • Create and maintain statistical reporting.
  • Create inspection tooling and fixtures as required.
  • Perform needed inspection and set up inspection tools for production run work pieces.
  • Proficient use of company inspection equipment to qualify parts.

Preferred Certificates/Licenses

  • AWS in D1.1 and D17.1 welding certificates
  • Forklift license
  • Other duties as assigned by management
